Description
Via Ferrata Style Rock Climbing & Swinging Bridge This is UNIQUE & Beginners WELCOME VIEWS AMAZING...AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME CHALLENGE YOURSELF MENTALLY UPDATE 10-1-08 : SATURDAY FULL --- Only Sunday 10 AM Climb available http://files.meetup.com/263185/nelsonrockbridge.jpg Well, if you wish to experience a very unique climbing adventure then try this on for size. No climbing experince is necessary for they hook you to an anchor system built into the wall so your climbing on D hooks. I tried this event last year and I'm not a climber. I was amazed and wowed by the experience. It is pure beauty, a rush, and walking over the SWINGING BRIDGE was heartstopping, to climb the side of a cliff and look around you is something I never thought I would do.... Am I going Back to do it again...Oh Yeah!!!! Hope to see you There! (VIA FERRATA) - What you are invited to challenge is so called "Via Ferrata" (Italian for "iron way"), a type of mountain climbing route with a safety system permanently installed, making the climb suitable for persons with no prior training and minimal equipment. The climber is attached at all times to a steel cable which runs along the entire route; no climbing rope is generally required. Steel rungs, ladders, bridges and similar structures are used to keep the climbing from becoming too difficult, while providing access to high, vertical faces and extreme mountain terrain which would otherwise be accessible only to experienced, roped climbing parties. Via ferrata systems have been popular for decades in Europe, where over 300 routes are open to the public, but are relatively new to North America. Built in 2002, the Nelson Rocks Via Ferrata is only the second of its kind in the United States. The route gains hundreds of vertical feet of elevation over half a mile of climbing, leading up to a thrilling, exposed summit with unforgettable views of the Allegheny mountains. Truly West Virginia's wildest outdoor adventure!
