All payments are non-refundable unless you find a replacement. *********************************** Hey boys & girls! Pack your bags we're going to camp the wknd (9/26-28) on the BEACH! Assateague State Park is Maryland's only ocean park. It is located on Assateague Island, a barrier island bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by Sinepuxent Bay. Two miles of ocean beaches offer swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing, surfing and fishing. The island's bayside offers visitors the chance to explore secluded coves by canoe or kayak. The marsh areas have a variety of wildlife, including deer, waterfowl and feral horses. End of September is a good time to go because the water is still warm and there'll be ALOT less bugs and mosquitos. Cost: $20 per person for 2 nights. 4 people and max. 2 tents per site, which means you'll have to share tent with someone. Please follow the link below to make payments. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=lchen412%40yahoo%2ecom&item_name=Camping%20on%20the%20Beach%21%21%21%20%2d%20Assateague%20Island%20State%20Park&amount=20%2e00&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&currency_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dBuyNowBF&charset=UTF%2d8 Only 26 spots are available so RSVP and send your payment in as soon as you can. There are shower and electricity facilities throughout the island. You can also bring your own watercraft. Sorry NO PETS ALLOWED! ~~~~~ IMPORTANT TIPS FOR THIS TRIP~~~~~~ 1.Try to carpool to limit the # cars there, save gas, and have fun on the ride out. Only two vehicles are allowed at each site. All others will need to park in overflow parking. 2. Check-in is any time after 2 PM. Check-out is 12pm. 3. Bring LONG tent stakes, very helpful in sand! Beach-length tent stakes (12 to 15 inches) are a must, particularly if you are camping on the Atlantic side of Assateague. While the sites are accessed by paved roads, they are set upon soft sands behind the dune-line and the winds can whip up fantastically any time of the year. 4. BRING - - FIREWOOD! We'll burn it like crazy! If you dont bring it, plan on buying it there! Everyone contributes! - Camping chair to sit in around the fire. - Cooler or containers with tight-fitting lids to keep food in. We may not have the horses, but we WILL have the deer!! - Your bike if you have one?(and something to secure it) - Hiking boots!!!! - Insect REPELLENT (alot of them) - Along with the island's infamous mosquito population, sand fleas are prevalent in the summer. A good bug spray and close attention to keeping your tent's screen door zippered shut will help immensely. - Some cash in case you need to buy something (water, wood, etc). We might be able to rent kayaks! weehaaa :) Links: Park website: http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/eastern/assateague.html Park map: http://www.nps.gov/asis/planyourvisit/maps.htm Park camping rules: http://www.nps.gov/archive/asis/campregs.htm
