Event details: Russian Orchestral Music
Description
Pianist Lukas Geniušas will join Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Roman Kofman in a concert featuring works by Rachmaninov and Shostakovich.
This is a meeting of two musical stars from different generations. Conductor Roman Kofman from the Ukraine will share the stage with Lukas Geniušas, a prize-winner at international competitions and a representative of two musical dynasties. The artists will perform two Russian masterpieces: Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto, one of his most popular pieces, and the passionate symphony by Shostakovich. There was a difference of only over thirty years in the composers’ age, but they were completely different in their music and experience. Their music contains a different emotional charge and it reveals completely different Russian musical treasures.
Probe the depths of emotion in 20th century Russian music at this exciting concert in Vilnius.
