Come join us for a festive ride of the season!! We are going to tour through parts of Vancouver and check out light displays. Riding will sometimes be in traffic and there will be some hills but this is a relaxed ride with plenty of stops to take pictures and ooh and ahh. This is a no drop ride. Start time at 22nd St Skytrain station (see writeup): 3:00 pm** Arrival time at Science World: 4:30 pm** Start time from Science World: 4:45 pm sharp Total distance: just over 70km **These timings are approximate, if you are concerned, please email your cell number and area of concern to one of the organizers and we'll call at that juncture...if there's been no call, then you know we haven't left/arrived yet! We'll begin our lights viewing at St Paul's and then ride to Canada Place. From there we will ride up Adanac Street to Kaslo and down to the famous Trinity Street lights competition which is a whole street (nearly a kilometer!) of decorated houses. Please remember to bring one or two locks, cash for donations and any dinner/refreshments. Please also bring quick and easy snacks and water as we'll be out for awhile and you'll need to refuel. We expect the ride to take around 4-5 hours including stops. Recommended dress is for weather including cold and wet: bright and reflective and in layers is best! Lights (white for the front, red for the back) and helmets are mandatory. We will ride single file, use hand signals and obey all traffic signs. As it is a night ride, we ask everyone to be extra alert! The Bicycling Group's FAQs can be found here. *** PLEASE NOTE: We are a group composed of volunteers. We are not a professional organization. As such, each of us is responsible for our own safety and well-being during an organized event. However, as a group of friends, we make an effort to look out for one another to the best of our ability. PLEASE NOTE: This ride is somewhat weather dependent as some extreme conditions would just make it a misery. conditions such as high winds. As weather forecasts can change very quickly, the decision will be made on the day of the ride. Please check the site and/or your email as any notifications will be sent out by noon on the day of the ride. And lastly, please let us know in your RSVP where you'll be meeting us and we'll keep an eye out for you! Bring a camera! Note - if the weather is cold and/or wintery - we will have an alternative - either a car tour or a walking tour!! We will stop for hot drinks along the way and dinner!!
