Thanksgiving in the Canyon!

We'll spend the long Thanksgiving weekend exploring the Grand Canyon. We'll head up Wednesday after work and stay at the historic Bright Angel Lodge on the South Rim. On Thursday morning, after a hearty breakfast, we'll hike the South Kiabab Trail 7 miles & 4,400' down to the river and set-up camp at the Bright Angel campground. That evening, we'll enjoy a full-blown turkey dinner at Phanton Ranch. On Friday, we'll day hike 12 miles up the North Kiabab Trail to Ribbon Falls before returning to enjoy beers and cards at the lodge. The day hike offers great views of the inner gorge and a chance to see the north rim. On Saturday, we'll do a day hike along the Clear Creek trail to enjoy the spectular views high aboe the river before packing up and starting the climb out. We'll hike 2,000' up and camp at the Indian Gardens campground. On Sunday, we'll climb the remaining 2,500' up and out to enjoy a good meal and a shower on the rim before heading home. Cost is approx. $112 for permits, the thanksgiving dinner, and the hotel (2 per room) on the rim.
