Fibrous Adobe ("Fidobe") Home Tour - near Bisbee

Let's go back down to Sulfur Springs Valley to Jim and Marian's house: Description of their place: "The walls are made of paper adobe "fidobe" fibrous adobe -- which is dirt and pulped paper. The floors of the house are brick, while the walls and roof are fidobe, made like a coiled pot, or like cob, fairly free form. The bedroom has an earthen floor, conventional roof, and the walls are rectilinear, made from fidobe blocks, mortared together with fidobe slip. The greenhouse is post and beam with chicken wire stretched between, and fidobe packed into it -- steel reinforced fidobe. The floor is brick and literal soil. The greenhouse has a solar tub and shower, and tomato starts next to the shower. We have two composting toilets, much like Marcia's, but the compost bins are fairly extensive. We fill one for 6 months, age it for another six, and then take our time spreading it around. The garden is about 1/3 acre, on drip, with a lot of twists and turns so you can get turned around, almost lost in it. It's surrounded by a 10' chicken wire fence to keep out critters, including deer, and it is sunk 2' in the ground to keep out pocket gophers. we have 3 hens, which lay brown, green, and chocolate colored eggs. There's also a wooden platform with a pretty good view into Mexico, maybe 60 miles. we're off grid, with solar panels ,and haven't used propane in years. We have a dual water system -- city water, and a deep well with solar powered pump. Our only umbilical cords are city water and the internet cable; and as we get the well better set up, we can increasingly cut our reliance on the city water. Jim and Marian may provide brunch but I told them if too many of us come, that we'd bring food to share. Doesn't look like there's work for us to do. Would be more of a tour.
