Want to discover the real Alaska? You know, up close and personal? Travel expert and Michigan author, Jim DuFresne will show you how. And the good news is that it doesn't mean booking an expensive cruise on a boat that carries 1,000 other passengers. Jim will focus on using the wonderful ferries of the Alaska Marine Highway system to enjoy great wilderness adventures. Come enjoy a media presentation, taking you from Ketchikan in Southeast Alaska to Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands, stopping along the way to enjoy hikes, glacier walks, and kayaking adventures.
A former resident of Alaska, Jim DuFresne is the author of twenty guidebooks including Lonely Planet's 'Alaska', 'Hiking in Alaska', and 'Tramping in New Zealand'. His other books include 'Isle Royale National Park: Foot Trails & Water Routes', 'Backpacking in Michigan' (University of Michigan Press), and '50 Hikes in Michigan', (Backcountry Publications).
