Recovery International Self-Help Meeting, Troy MI Meetup

We are weekly Recovery International self-help meeting. Recovery International is a national wide non-profile organization that has been teaching tools dealing with stress, anxiety, panic, and depression since 1937. This particular meeting has been going since Jan 2006. It has been listed on MeetUp only recently and has yet to make a splash, so don't let the RSVP stats scare you off. We also draw people from newspaper listing, professional referrals, and word of mouth. Each week we learn and practice tools for coping with daily life. You will hear stories of how members use the tools in their daily life and how it has helped them deal with both the symptoms and the situations. As you learn the tools, the meeting will become a place where you can practice the tools and endorse yourself for your progress. Meeting structure: o) Reading from one of Dr. Low's books. ......Currently we are reading from 'Manage your fears, Manage your anger', a collection of speeches given by Dr. Low to the original Recovery group. o) Introductions ......Nothing more than going around the room and giving our first names. o) Examples of Recovery practice ......Situations, Symptoms, Spotting (tools), and Improvement, told by members in 4 parts. o) Q&A ......You've got questions, we've got answers. o) Mutual aid (unstructured social time) ......Finely, you don't have to raise your hand before speaking The official website for the organization. It is just south of an elementary school that has its own stoplight. The meeting room does change, so check the sign board on the lobby. No charge to attend, donations are accepted.
