Join us for an evening of meditation with Zen Master Kurt Spellmeyer (Kankan Sensei), director of the Cold Mountain Sangha. Sensei Kurt Spellmeyer holds the dharma transmission in a lineage that goes back to the Han Shan Temple in Suzhou, China. Sitting begins at 7:00 pm and a brief introduction will be provided for beginners. Follow River Road off Rt. 27 about 1 mile. On your right, you'll see the Princeton Masonic Lodge parking lot. Enter the building from the front and proceed downstairs. Call Brian at [masked] for more details. What to expect: For those new to meditation or zen, Roshi Spellmeyer gives a brief explanation of the practice. This includes information about the physical aspect (how to find a comfortable position on the cushion) and the mental aspect (how to watch your breath and understand the activities of your mind). We then proceed with a thirty minute period of sitting followed by ten minutes of walking meditation and a second thirty minute period of sitting. At the conclusion of the second sit, tea and a sweet are served. There is time after the sit to meet others and ask questions.
