Description

Formerly known as the O'Keefe Centre and then the Hummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts, the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts has 3,155 seats, the largest multi-use facility in the country. The centre boasts a huge 60-foot proscenium, and a sizable lobby mural by York Wilson, entitled the Seven Lively Arts.

It has hosted a large number of prestigious international touring acts, such as the Irish hoofing extravaganza Riverdance and New York's Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Everybody who's anybody has played this modernist architectural triumph in its history: Ethel Merman, Mickey Roonie, Angela Lansbury, Katherine Hepburn, Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, Bill Cosby, Harry Belafonte, and the infamous Liberace.

Getting There:
By Car:
From the Gardiner Expressway (from Don Valley Parkway or Queen Elizabeth Way) take the Yonge/Bay/York Street exit and proceed north on Yonge Street.
By Transit:
From Union Station exit to Front Street and walk two blocks east or from King Street Station - exit to Yonge Street and walk three blocks south.
