They all got their start at the Old Fire Hall on Lombard Street. Without the fire hall there would likely have been no SCTV. But after 33 years of irreverent wit and biting satire, 57 shows, 12,000 performances, and more than 2 million people, The Second City is now at 51 Mercer Street, north of the SkyDome and right next to Wayne Gretzky's Restaurant. The sketch comedy theatre company now has'em in the aisles of a 316-seat mainstage space whose intimacy is reminiscent of the old fire hall days. "There was a great legacy tied up in this building, and it motivates me to carry that legacy to our new theatre," says Second City executive producer Andrew Alexander.Links
