Meditation 101: The Basics of Meditation Practice

A half-day retreat with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation and sequential instructions in mindfulness practice. There will be direction in mindfulness of the breath, body, emotions, thoughts, and broader patterns of experience, both more personal and more universal. This half-day will be held mostly in silence with some short talks, and will generally focus on establishing more firmly a meditation practice, both on the cushion and in the flow of daily life. Carina Löf is a doctor of chiropractic, yoga teacher, contemporary acupuncturist and artist living and working in Toronto. Her yoga teaching blends detailed attention to anatomy and biomechanics with breath awareness and gentle curiosity as tools for self-exploration and healing. Her thorough anatomy training brings yoga injury prevention and recovery into her classes. Carina also teaches mindfulness meditation courses, and digestive health workshops integrating yoga, meditation and whole food nutrition to support ease in body and mind.
