Start Point Address / Driving Directions:
670 N. Scottsdale Rd, Tempe, AZ 85281. The City of Tempe is located on the eastern edge of Phoenix, just south of Scottsdale. From I-10 eastbound: Take Loop 202 eastbound (exit 147) to Scottsdale Rd (exit 7). Turn right (south) and the Best Western is on your right. From I-10 westbound: Take AZ Highway 143 exit (exit 153A – Sky Harbor Airport) to Loop 202. Take Loop 202 eastbound to Scottsdale Rd (exit 7). Turn right (south) and the Best Western is on your right. Event Description: Sunrise to Sunset. On this walk, you will walk through Arizona State University (where Teddy Roosevelt spoke and Bush debated Kerry), along historic downtown Tempe's Mill Avenue (featuring a variety of shops and restaurants), past the restored Southern Pacific RR station, and end up enjoying a walk along Tempe Town Lake and the Salt River, with views of the mountains surrounding Phoenix, the Valley of the Sun. This walk is rated 1, and is nearly flat, an easy stroll.
