André Rieu

André Rieu has confirmed his return to Tampa, Florida. Rieu, together with his 55 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, will return to North America for a 21-city run that starts in June. Rieu will appear in concert in Tampa on Friday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum.

The 2010 tour will be very special. Says Rieu, “[this] year will be the ‘Celebration of Music Tour’. I always say that music is the most wonderful thing in the world. Music triggers emotions. I want to bring an ode to waltzes and polkas that bring joy, to romantic ballads and to many more beautiful melodies. It will be a very special night.” Besides the United States and Canada, Rieu will bring his new tour to Mexico, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe.

André Rieu is one of the best selling live acts in the world. Billboard, the leading music industry publication, has published an overview of the 25 best selling tours of 2009 and Rieu ranked number six, outselling artists like Britney Spears, Coldplay and Beyonce. Rieu sold 834,992 tickets in 2009 for a gross of almost $96 million.
Rieu, who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, travels with his own orchestra, the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and an entourage of over 100 people in total. His concerts are known for their festive atmosphere. He encourages his audiences to get out of their seats and waltz in the aisles.
