      NEWS 2019: Introduction to Grantwriting

      For those new to grantwriting, completing a first-rate grant proposal is not as difficult as one may think. Whether you have spent time in a small or large nonprofit organization, or are a novice to nonprofits, this class will help you with the mechanics of writing an effective proposal. However, successful grant writing is more than just writing the proposal. You will also learn tips for increasing your chances of success -- such as how to approach funders, following up, etc. You will learn: Why preparation is the key to success The elements of a proposal Tailoring your message How to establish the structure and tone of the proposal The importance of relationships with grant makers What to Bring:  A project or grant proposal you are currently working on or plan to work on soon.  Due to space and class size considerations, this workshop is limited to two representatives per organization. Attendees should be affiliated with a nonprofit organization in a staff, board, or long-term volunteer capacity. Additionally, the content of the workshop will be similar to previous "Introduction to Grantwriting" sessions. Attendees should be affiliated with a nonprofit organization in a staff, board, or long-term volunteer capacity. Continental Breakfast will be provided. Parking Instructions: Please be prepared to park on the street. There is street parking available on East Fayette, East Washington and Genesee Streets. Parking in the lot directly in front of the CNY Philanthropy Center is reserved for Central New York Community Foundation guests and tenants and cannot be guaranteed for event participants. Please do not park in the lot adjacent to the Philanthropy Center in front of Joseph’s at the Carriage House-this is a private lot and your car will be towed. A Murbro surface lot is located within a block of the building-you may enter on East Washington Street, next to Jazz Central. A covered parking garage is located at 300 East Fayette Street.
