Stanford Summer Science Lecture #4 at CoCo's SunnyVale

We'll meet on the lawn in front of the Cantor Center at 6:45 via text or phone call. If you can arrive early, the museum will be open for touring and dining. Copied and pasted from http://events.stanford.edu/byCategory/2/ The Next Wave in Wireless Technology Wireless technology has enormous potential to change the way people and things communicate. Future wireless networks will allow people on the move to communicate with anyone, anywhere, and at any time using a range of high-performance multimedia services. Wireless communications and sensor networks can also enable a new class of intelligent home electronics, smart and energy-efficient structures and highways, and in-body networks for analysis and treatment of medical conditions. There are many technical challenges that must be overcome in order to make this vision a reality. This talk will describe what the wireless future might look like and some of the innovations and breakthroughs that will be required to realize this vision. ANDREA GOLDSMITH, Professor of Electrical Engineering Andrea Goldsmith's research focuses on wireless systems and their applications. She is author of the books Wireless Communications and MIMO Wireless Communications. She founded Quantenna Communications and has held industry positions at Maxim Technologies, Memorylink, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Goldsmith is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has received several awards for her research, and has been a National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Gilbreth Lecturer. She received a PhD in electrical engineering from UC Berkeley and taught electrical engineering at Caltech before coming to Stanford."
