San Jose Taiko - Japanese Drums, American-Style - SOLD OUT

The thundering drums of San Jose Taiko return to Sunnyvale Theatre. The internationally recognized group fills the theater with sound, color and physicality in a spectacular show of drumming and dance. Founded in 1973, San Jose Taiko is one of the country’s oldest taiko guilds, renowned for its uniquely American style, blending ancient Japanese rhythms and movement with African, Balinese, Brazilian, Latin and jazz percussion and contemporary dance. Troupe members not only perform, but also compose, choreograph, costume, even handcraft the drums in this art form which celebrates harmony. Taiko last performed at Sunnyvale Theatre in 2003.
