Happy Halloween! I am finally getting caught up--hooray! Saw that the email notice went out today and thought I'd better get on top of this. I'm looking forward to getting the Halloween candy out of the house tonight and I know Chase & Chipper are going to spend the evening barking their heads off at all the doorbell ringing and noises tonight -- ah, the joy of trick or treating! Hope your dogs are enjoying the fall weather and not getting into the Kit-Kats and fun-sized Snickers! How about we try the Arlington/Arkwright dog park for November? It's just off Maryland and 35E, a little north of downtown St. Paul and has a lower and upper level for the dogs to run around. The upper level has lots of nice trees and hopefully, if it's not snowing yet, there should be lots of crackling leaves for the dogs to romp through. They have a parking lot north of the park, or you can park along the street, and if you haven't been there in a while, they have upgraded the gates to double gates and put a giant set of stairs running up and down the big hill. For those of you that want to keep up on the Ramsey County dog parks, there's a newsletter you can sign up to now: http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/parks/parks/offleash.htm and the September issue has a nice article about the various dog park volunteers that help keep the parks maintained. Ramsey County was trying (and may still be trying) to pass an annual membership fee per dog, but I believe I read in the White Bear paper that this was voted down. We had a pretty exciting walk with our dogs yesterday. They were offleash and running through a field behind Hugo City Hall. Chase & Chipper were really sniffing something in the grass and suddenly Chipper ran off with a huge meaty legbone in his mouth. Turns out there was part of a deer carcass in the woods....hmmm. We spent the next 5 minutes trying to keep the dogs away from it and get the leg out of Chipper's mouth. He didn't understand why he had to give it back. I was just happy I had some hand sanitizer in my car. Yuck. Looking forward to seeing poodles and doodles in the park in a few weeks! Kelly, Chase & Chipper
