Join us for a hike through Lone Elk Park on Saturday, January 2 at 9:30 a.m. (We will start a half hour later to allow time for those traveling longer distances.) This is the park where you can walk alongside the elk, bison, turkeys, and other critters. Directions: take I-44 west, a few miles past highway 270, and exit at Highway 141 north. Then take the North Outer Road going west a couple of miles to Lone Elk County Park. Follow the signs to the Visitor Center. (Notes: the Visitor Center has been closed, but there should still be bathrooms. No pets are allowed inside the park.) We will hike the White Bison Trail, a 4-mile, hilly dirt trail. This will be a little more strenuous than our urban walks. Consider wearing light boots. Bring water and a snack, and dress for the weather... layers are best, so you can shed some layers if the weather warms up. Afterward, we can find a restaurant for lunch. Meetup Donation: Meetup charges Greg $72 every six months to have the Walking site. If you would like to donate $1 at some of the walks, it will be appreciated.
