    BB has been the most honest and, by extension, controversial musical performer that I've ever come across. His songs challenge the status quo and seek to bring to our attention issues of social justice while never compromising his beautiful poetic sensibility. Last saw Billy at HHM (which he jokingly referred to as The Sacred Heart of Mary Margaret O'Hara lol!) in 1992. In this world of increasing limits on our freedoms, and the establishment of police-state conditions, we need his insightful critical view more than ever.

Stephen William Bragg (born December 20, 1957), known as Billy Bragg, is a British musician known for his blend of folk, punk-rock, and protest music. He has been active for over 20 years. His music combines poetry and political comment with occasional romance. He has collaborated with many other leading musicians, including Johnny Marr of The Smiths, protest folk singer Leon Rosselson, R.E.M., Less Than Jake, Kirsty MacColl, and Wilco.
