Event details: Barbershop Harmony Extravaganza, “Salute To Our Veterans”
Description
The award-winning Barbershop Harmony Chorus, Hernando Harmonizers, is pleased to announce our Barbershop Harmony Extravaganza, “Salute To Our Veterans” – a grand musical outpouring of thanks to our military veterans! It will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 pm, in the spacious Northcliffe Baptist Church, Spring Hill – fittingly just four days before Veterans Day. Last year, our show attracted almost 700 people. We expect more this year!
Our show will involve dramatic audio/visual pieces accompanying the Chorus, three quartets – and our special guests, the award-winning Suncoast Harmony Chorus, women’s barbershop chorus along with performing quartets.
But the real stars of the show will not be the performers. Veterans from all five military branches – Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard – and from various wars, will appear on stage with the performers to make this special tribute more personal ….. such as:
A Marine who served FIVE tours in the Middle East
An Air Force pilot who logged in more than 11,000 hours of flying time, many in B-17’s and B-29’s
Two of three brothers who served together in WWII, all in different branches
An Army Air Corps pilot who escorted Generals MacArthur and Wainwright
……….. and others!
This show will be filled with patriotic music and great singing, but most of all, honor and tribute to our true American heroes – our military veterans!
Ticket prices are: $12 in advance/$15 at the door. To enjoy a truly great experience, please contact Bob Polk, 352-200-7271, pkpolk@msn.com for tickets. Active military personnel who show up in uniform will be admitted FREE, with a valid military ID!
