More about Bay State Fencers
Bay State Fencers
In 2004 L. Stacy Eddy established Bay State Fencers as Boston's only urban fencing club and fencing academy. His mission was to introduce and promote the Olympic sport of fencing to neighborhoods in and around Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. Mr. Eddy has been involved with fencing since the early 1970's as a fencer, a coach and as the parent of fencers. In 2005 Mr. Eddy partnered with Vitaliy Nazarenko. Mr. Nazarenko has been involved with fencing most of his life as both an international competitor and as a saber coach. Together they invited Daniel Hondor and Maksim Zaitsev to join the staff. The entire coaching staff is pleased to offer year round programming in foil, epee and saber to all age groups and for all levels of training and competition. As a permanent facility, Bay State Fencers offers the community a full service fencing academy and fencing club by providing instructional programs for students age seven (7) and older, vacation and summer training clinics, a state-of-the-art club environment with open fencing for experienced fencers, uniform & equipment sales and repair services. Bay State Fencers is also home to the Stage Combat Studio. Mr. Eddy has been involved in the theater his entire professional career as a theatrical scene and lighting designer and as a fight director. Mr. Eddy established the Stage Combat Studio in order to offer regional actors and fight directors a permanent place to train and rehearse the art of stage combat. In 2005 Mr. Eddy invited Ted Hewlett to join him as a Stage Combat Instructor and Robert Walsh as a Technical Advisor and Guest Instructor. The Stage Combat Studio has offered training sessions in Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword, Small Sword, Quarterstaff and Hand-to-Hand Combat. The highlight of 2005 was a Master Class in Action Acting with Anthony DeLongis. Bay State Fencers is conveniently located on the Cambridge /Somerville border just east of Inman Square. We are only minutes away from Back Bay, Harvard Square & Union Square and we are easily accessible by public transportation. Please stop by to visit and take a tour.Post a Countdown Widget
