I may be bias since I am a huge fan of the Educational Exchange program. I was a host mom of a Thai boy, "Mek" Khongphat Prasarnthong whom attended Franklinton Highschool and enjoyed it so much I began investigating becoming a local coordinator. This year while finishing my last semester of a lifetime goal and a personal dream of graduating from college with my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting I become a Local Coordinator with CIEE and began working to place some exceptional High School students age 15 through 18, so of which celebrate their birthdays with us; from countries around the world like South Korea, India, Thailand, Vietnam, and France. This experience is so much more to many of these "kids", many of whom just impress your socks off with their determination and ambitions, the academic achievement, dedication and love for their families and country. We have so much in common even when we can't speak their language and they are clumbsy with ours, Music, Love, Compassion and Sports are universal, as well as laughter, tears, fears and dream. If you are interested in other cultures, learning about foreign education, culture, food, music, drama, their currency, and languages come out and meet some of these amazing students that left their homes, families, comfort zone and came to the US to improve their speaking, writing and translating English Skills and want to share about their country, language, education, and families with you and yours. If you are interested in hearing about the opportunity to host an exchange students we are receiving the applications for the 2011-2012 School year this week and will be meeting with potential families to match these students who are anxiously awaiting information about their "Families and homes for their upcoming stay". Please email me, dotwigg@gmail.com or go to the website (www.ciee.org/hs/host) and see the information there and request more information. Tell them Dot sent you :). if you are ready to star
