Event details: The Capitol Steps
Description
After a near sell-out run in 2009, this Centre East favorite returns with more hilarious musical satire of politics and current events. “Left, right or center, [this] musical satire out of Washington, D.C., has a laugh and an insult for everyone,” says Variety. Since they began in 1981, these congressional-staffers-turned-comedians have recorded 29 albums and have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials. The newest addition to their musical résumé is the album, “Obama Mia!,” whose title track pays homage to the media’s love affair with our current President. The album features songs that playfully make fun of 2009 political and social scandals from Rod Blagojevich, “Senate Seat for Sale: Slightly Used”, to “I Wrecked My Heart with Spam and Crisco.” In addition to songs from this CD the performances are sure to include a new song or two inspired by the most outrageous headlines of the day.
