Premiere Concert of Rockestra Jr.

On Sunday December 21, 2008 Sioux City Rockestra Jr. will hold its premier concert at 3 PM at the Castle on the Hill Auditorium. The Castle is located at 610 13th Street in Sioux City Iowa. Rockestra Jr. is an education program in conjunction with the Sioux City Rockestra, founded and directed by John Luebke.

The concert is free and open to the public. Two orchestras will be performing. Rockestra III is a 20-piece training ensemble made up of students in grades 4-9. Rockestra Jr. is a 40-piece ensemble made up of students in grades 6-12. Both orchestras are under the direction of Rockestra member and Sioux City music teacher Stephanie Irish.

Rockestra Jr. began in September of 2008. The orchestras are available, through audition, to all vocal and instrumental music students in grades 4 through 12. Both orchestras rehearse every Tuesday evening.

Rockestra III will be performing selections by the Turtles, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Hootie & the Blowfish and Johnny Marks. Rockestra Jr. will be performing selections by Journey, Whitesnake, Golden Earring, Katrina & the Waves, Survivor, Steve Miller, Aretha Franklin and Jefferson Airplane.
