Hoss, an aging rock star in a world where entertainment and street warfare have combined, is challenged by a newcomer, Crow, in a battle for fame in this compelling evening of theater. Taffety Punk exploits Shepard’s play about a rock star/mob boss/political pawn for it’s relevance to the music industry wars, partisan politics, and corporate siege of America…with great music and all the violence of a good video game. Music and bizarre settings are fused into an exciting play-concert, under the Taffety Punk aesthetic of minimal sets, fabulous actors, and big sonic power. Appropriate for adults.
The mission of the Taffety Punk Theatre is to establish a dynamic ensemble of actors, dancers and musicians who ignite a public passion for theatre by making the classical and the contemporary exciting, meaningful, and affordable. They envision a theatre with a living function in a community: to examine, to teach, to share, to provide a laboratory for the human experience. Smarter. Cheaper. Better.
