Event details: Steve Forbert
Description
Steve Forbert has arrived many times. His train first pulled into the station in NYC in the mid 1970s after he left his home in Meridian, Mississippi. By 1978, at the age of 23, he connected with manager Danny Fields and released his first album, "Alive on Arrival." He was off to a great career. His major radio hit "Romeo's Tune" is still in heavy rotation on classic rock stations. And now as thirty plus years have flowed under the bridge, with 20+ albums of music under his belt, Forbert still lets his energy flow to you through his unschooled vocals that capture the vitality of life, the irony of mistakes, the urgency of love, the weight of acceptance, and the optimism of tomorrow. By December (or, we hope, at least in time for Christmas) SteveForbert.com will be releasing DOWN IN FLAMES. This three CD set will span the years 1982-1985. Disc 1, the title disc itself, will be a 13 song, refurbished version of the unreleased fifth album originally produced for Columbia Records by Neil Geraldo in 1983. Disc 2 will feature live recordings with The Flying Squirrels. Over half of the songs on disc two are Forbert originals that have yet to appear on any album and were recorded at a February 25, 1983 show in New Jersey. Disc 3 will consist entirely of previously unreleased Forbert originals. These studio demos, produced by Steve during 1984 and 1985, all feature The Flying Squirrels - John Leventhal, Paul Errico, Frank Campbell - along with drummers Dennis McDermott, Gary Burke or David Rosenberg. The late Wells Kelly appears on most of disc two. More info: http://www.steveforbert.com/ Open: Ben Pegg - An incredibly gifted guitarist/songwriter.
