Description
I've rented another big unit that has two bedrooms and fireplace in the living room. So now total # of people we can accept is 45 people. Please be advised that we may not have enough to feed 45 people for every dish. We will try. That means before the 45th person some of the popular dishes may be gone. Nevertheless, we will have enough food to make you happy. ^^ The line will be formed in the order of this list because this list shows who paid first. Also the choice to stay in the smaller unit will be decided by the order of this list. Those who have made deposits are (28 spots remaining as of 11/15/09 at 11PM): 1. Me 2. Daniel A 3. Mercedes G 4. Julia L 5. Valerie K 6. Jessica F 7. Nicole W 8. Jennifer Y 9. Adrienne T 10. Jeremy W 11. Elena L 12. Sakiynah K 13. Jacki J 14. Aaron R 15. Brian D 16. Jessica Q 17. Grant P 18. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE CABIN The log cabin is in the woods not too far from Seoul. We will rent out two large units. Saxophone and Piano units. Pension Photos Saxophone has 3 bedrooms and two living rooms and a fireplace. (80 Pyung) Piano unit has 2 bedrooms and one living room and also a fireplace. (25 Pyung) Because we have way more females than males, the Piano unit will be all females only. Also I would like to designate two of the bedrooms in the Saxophone unit to be female rooms and one of them to be male room. The living room and loft in the Saxophone unit are areas for mixed sleeping. Also bedrooms are first sleep first taken. Meaning whoever goes to sleep first gets to sleep on the bed. Two persons per bed. Rest will be sleeping on the floor. Blankets are provided and floor will be heated floor. Highlights are: 1. We will do the whole turkey dinner thing. 2. There is a nice deck to hangout outdoors. 3. Fireplace in the large room where we can burn wood all night. 4. Even a piano if someone knows how to play it. 5. Campfire outside for smores. We will have fresh air, good views, beers, good food, and good people to hangout with. What more can you ask for? ^^ THE TURKEY DINNER: We will get turkey and ham from the base. Turkey Menu from Base The big unit has a gas oven. Since we will be getting the turkey from the base we can use the oven to bake other stuff. Does anyone have baking dishes? We need your help. Also we need volunteers who will cook or just help to cook as an assistant. Please let me know and I will put your name on the cooking team list. Cooking is sometime as fun as eating it!^^ The menu might look something like this: 1. Turkey 2. Mashed Potatoes with Gravy 3. Greenbeans/Asparagus 4. Sweet Potatoes (Yams?) 5. Cranberry Sauce 6. Ham? 7. Corn 8. Stuffing 9. Pumpkin Pie 10. Kimchi ^^ Beers will be 1500 won a can. Anything else? ^^ Lets plan on start eating at 5PM? BREAKFAST: I think it would be easy to do pancake breakfast. The tentative breakfast menu is going to be: 1. Pancakes with Maple Syrup 2. French Toast 3. Sausages/Hotdog meat 4. Homemade hashbrowns? 5. LUNCH: We will eat whatever is left over with whoever is remaining at 1PM. EXERCISE: I am thinking with all this food we may want to do some excercise. There is a hike possible on Sunday after breakfast to go up to Su Jong Sa temple where you can have tea in the tea room over looking the han river in the distance. Its a 1 hour hike uphill. If you are interested in the hiking I need to know in advance. So please comment in the comment section below. MISC: If anyone has musical instrument that would be very welcome. I will have speakers that work with any ipods so bring your favorite music. Also I have a couple of Scrabble boards and freezebees to throw. TO GET THERE: You can get to the cabin using the Jung Ang Line (light blue line). The station to get off is Yang Su station. http://www.smrt.co.kr/Train/Subwaymap/Eng/Subwaymap.jsp The ride times here is on the short side so add more time. From Seoul Station expect 1.5 hours to get to Yang Su Station. From Yangsu Station there is a bus which is very infrequent but goes right to the pension. Will have more info on this. Or you can take a taxi and it costs less than 10,000 won. So if 4 people take the taxi it would be maybe 2000 won per person. Owner has two cars and so can take 11 people at once. So lets coordinate your arrival time so you dont wait too long for the rest of group to arrive. Its also possible I can pick up a group but depends on how busy I will be. Lets decide to have three arrival times: 1PM Taam (Owner will pick you up): 2PM Team (owner will pickyou up): Jennifer R 4PM Team (owner will pick you up): Jeremy W Elana L Brian D Valerie If you arrive at times other than these two, you can take the bus. You can go to the pension as early as 1PM. On Sunday we can all take the bus back to the train station. We should leave the pension on Sunday before something like 3PM. Will update this info. COST: The cost to join is 45,000 won per person and is limited to 45 people. This includes: 1. Lodging (sleeping on the heated Korean style floor mainly) 2. Thanksgiving Dinner and Breakfast next day COOKING TEAM: So far the cooking team will be: 1. Adrienne T (Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, Greenbean Casserole, Sweet Yams, Walnut Bread, Pumpkin Soup) 2. Jamaica C 3. Frankel (Home made cranberry sauce, Humus?, Smores?) 4. Ansley (mac and cheese) 5. Audrey 6. Vivienne I have a SUV which will make things a whole lot easier. 4 of the cooking team members can go to grocery shopping Saturday morning with me and then go to the base to pickup the cooked turkey and then head over to the pension by 2PM. Before arriving at the pension we will probably stop for lunch Meet me at Yangjae Station by 9:30AM. Sign Up Process: 1. EVERYONE MUST be meetup member and must RSVP YES to be eligible to go. (CANNOT signup for someone else.) RSVP YES does not mean you have a spot on the bus. 2. Check to see if there is space to join if # of spots remaining is less than 10. 3. Deposit 45,000 won. If you over-deposited I will give you your money back on the bus. Only a deposit guarantees space. (to confirm your deposit, check for your name below) 4. Send email (wkcho@ix.netcom.com) saying you made how much deposit from which bank for which trip on which date. Please do not combine with other trips. One email for each trip. 5. Include NAME, GENDER, BIRTHDATE, PHONE#. If you have given this to me before you don't need to send it again unless I ask for it. Deposits to be made to: Kookmin Bank 814302-04-052125 Cho, William Refund Policy: 14 days (11/14) or before departure = 100% refund of deposit 14days before 12hours before departure = 50% 12 hours to before departure = 0% Insurance and Liability: Korea has changed the insurance system starting 10/1/09. It is no longer possible to get cheap travel insurance to supplement whatever insurance you probably already have. So you have to relay on insurance you already have to protect you. This meetup group is not liable in anyway during or after your trip.
