INSUBONG(Rock Climbing,Mt. Bukhan)

Hello Climbing In Korea members!! I think rock climbers prefer cliffs that have good scenery and a variety of climbing possibilities. That is why Insubong, Peak of Mt. Bukhan, nearby the heart of Seoul, is especially popular. Mt. Bukhan, a national park in the northern outskirts of Seoul known for its breathtaking scenery and its rocky peak, is the cradle of Korean rock climbing. Rock climbers come here throughout the year to experience the thrill of reaching the top and to enjoy the magnificent bird's-eye view of Seoul. We are planning to rock climb on Insubong (810m) on Sat, Nov 7th. We will take the easiest route, called Godokgil, of the many routes to climb up Insubong. This route called Godogil has easier multiptich (6 "pitches," or segments of ascent) under 5.9 (Routes range from 5.5-5.9 on the face) and we will go down with two long rappels from the top of Insubong (60meters). It will be a very exciting trip! We ask that only experienced climbers, who have your own climbing gears (Harness, Shoes, Belay device, Daisy chain, Carabiners, Helmet, Gloves and etc) sign-up for this one. We must also limit it to 7 climbers for our safety climbing, and some Korean rock climbers will join to help us as well. NOTE: Rock Climbing is inherently dangerous. Involvement in rock climbing carries a significant risk of personal injury or death. CLIMB AT YOUR OWN RISK! Always kiss your family good-by before heading out on a climb. From Suyu Station we will take the bus or taxi to the trail head (Dosun temple). We can climb up and down for about 5-6 hours.
