It will be a magic carpet ride to distant places and eras gone by when Meadowlark and the Seymour & Cyge duo perform in concert. The best of both worlds, the evening promises an inspiring instrumental voyage to the corners of the earth followed by a nostalgic journey back to the 50s, 60s & 70s. With guitarist Rick Cyge in common, both groups share an enchanting quality that draws the listener in and brings to mind special places remembered and youthful times.
Performing on flutes, effervescent pennywhistles, and guitar, Meadowlark creates an uplifting, instrumental voyage inspired by the beauty of natural places: A hovering hawk takes flight through string-tapping on Rick Cyge’s prized Lowden guitar; ocean surf resonates in the warm and mellow tones of Lynn Trombetta’s flute!
Guitarist Cyge’s folk roots run deep and his guitar work wraps around the music like a warm comforter. His New England folk beginnings as a singer/composer/guitarist were enhanced by his being founder of Wood & Strings Music Center, a hub of concerts, music instruction and fine instruments in the Boston scene. Cyge brings the folk experience fully into his duo with local favorite, Chris Seymour.
With a repertoire that stretches from Baby Boomer classics, to folk, country, pop, blues, and even Celtic, the common thread that runs through all of Seymour & Cyge’s music is the chemistry the pair consistently create with the combination of their voices, guitars, and Cyge’s mandolin thrown in for spice. The playful banter between them keeps audiences entertained and the music is always engaging.
Reminiscent of dynamic pairings such as Simon & Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, Seals & Crofts, Loggins & Messina and Chad & Jeremy, Seymour & Cyge create a signature sound that is instantly recognizable.
Expect Trombetta to add a little magic here and there during their performance. After dinner, sit back, nestle into each other for the evening and you’ll find yourself singing along to some favorite and nostalgic songs from days gone by!
Cost: Payment required - Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at http://www.EarthsongMusic.com or at the door. For those attending the concert and not planning to have dinner, a lighter menu will be offered during the performance time. Note that there is a minimum purchase required of two beverages or one food item from the light menu.
