Let's Talk About It: Love and Forgiveness-In the Presence of The Enemy

Description: Let’s Talk About It: Love and Forgiveness – In the Presence of the Enemy is a reading and discussion series led by local scholar Jayana Clerk and organized around themes that engage and stimulate audiences. The program series will be comprised of the (10) discussions that focus on five (5) books which participants will read, along with an essay written by national program scholar Betty Sue Flowers. The entire series will explore whether forgiveness is possible even in the presence of the enemy when the individuals involved share their common humanity. The five (5) books will be Scenes from The Illiad, by Homer, Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre, Embers, written by Sandor Marai, The Guardians, but Ana Castillo, and Ann Patchett’s Bel Canto.

The American Library Association launched Let’s Talk About It as a national program in 1982. It has reached hundreds of libraries and more than four million people around the United States over the past 25 years. This series is also sponsored by the Fetzer Institute, whose mission is to foster awareness of the power of love and forgiveness in the emerging global community, and rests on its conviction that efforts to address the critical issues facing the world must go beyond political, psychological and spiritual roots. The Institute works with global leaders, organizations and individuals to bring the power of love and forgiveness to the center of individual, community and organizational life
