Neighborhood art walks

Shielded from busy Second Avenue by massive uneven steel pillars and a gurgling fountain, this gallery at the base of the Washington Mutual Tower shows contemporary paintings, sculpture and glass pieces in a soothing, dimly-lit environment.

Friesen's artists can be local or international, but tend to be abstract, with works ranging from murky, muted large-scale canvasses to pointy shards of kiln-cast glass in ruby red, bright green and electric blue. Solo and group shows change every month, and openings coincide with Pioneer Square's First Thursday art walk.
