The final Saturday University event of the year features lectures by Jay Xu, director of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, and Bennet Bronson, former curator of Asian anthropology at The Field Museum in Chicago. Then Josh Yiu, SAM's Foster Foundation Associate Curator of Asian Art, moderates a panel discussion with University of Washington art historians Sonal Khullar, Cynthea Bogel, Stevan Harrell and Haicheng Wang.

The museum, which houses the majority of the Seattle Art Museum's 7,000-piece Asian art collection, specializes in works from Japan, China, Korea, India, Southeast Asia and the Himalayas. Considered one of the best Asian art collections in the country, the museum's holdings include Japanese ink painting, calligraphy and Buddhist sculpture; Chinese tomb figures, jade carvings and puppets; Korean screens and ceramics; Southeast Asian Buddhist and Hindu sculptures and historical Thai ceramics. The museum also offers lectures relating to current exhibits, kids events, Japanese tea ceremonies and artist demonstrations on esthetic techniques such as flower arranging.
