Description
You know it when you see it. The guy across the room with that confident, relaxed, playful style that invites from his partner a fuller expression of her personality. They look good. And you know both he and his partner are having more fun than you are. It’s a long journey to that style. It comes from mastering the vocabulary of moves that make up the world’s dances. That journey starts right here in this class, and progresses from your first steps. In this class we'll focus on the elements and techniques of masterful dancing -- rhythm, timing, balance, weight change, spins and turns, floor craft, musicality, styling, and more -- in your own body -- and without the added dimension of dealing with a partner. We'll pay attention to things there isn't enough time for in most dance classes. Then we'll help you put it all together on the dance floor so you'll have the confidence to dance with anyone, you’ll develop your own style, dancing will be easier, you’ll have more fun on the dance floor, and women will love dancing with you. This is a technique class for beginning and experienced social dancers alike. Beginning dancers will take these skills to other classes and "get it" faster and more easily. Experienced dancers move up to the next levels of dance mastery and personal style. This is a collaborative, seminar-style class of lively interaction between all participants and in support of traveling dances (like waltz, blues, tango, two step, etc.) and stationary dances (like east/west coast swing, lindy hop, salsa, blues etc.) If you'd like, each week we'll send you an email, describing what we're doing that week in class.
