Description
Autumn is a great time to start Qigong classes( pronounced chee-gung). As the temperature starts to drop and we lose our precious daylight, we need to take steps to keep the body strong and the attitude positive. By adjusting to the season's change, we can more easily avoid the illnesses and depression that often are experienced during Winter time. In this class, you will be introduced to a series of beginner's forms which will prepare you for the movements covered in the Wild Goose Qigong system. As a beginner, you will start with Balancing Gong and Healthy Living Gongs I,II, and III. Each form covers a different area, Balancing Gong is good for posture, balance, coordination, and flexibility. Healthy Living Gong I focuses on relaxation, II develops fitness and, III cultivates power and physical strength. Upon completing these forms, the student will have a deeper understanding of the rudimentary elements of Qigong, their relationship to the body, and will be introduced to Dayan Gong/ Wild Goose Qigong. The Wild Goose Qigong system was created over 1800 years ago during the Jin dynasty by Taoist monks living in the Kunlun Mountains in China. The exercises in this Chinese health system use fluttering, slapping, patting, stretching, jumping and acupressure or massage to stimulate the channels and meridians, and in turn enable us to dispel old or stagnant Qi and to welcome in fresh Qi. With greater circulation and increased vitality, we are able to decrease the frequency of illness as well as the time needed to heal injuries. When you visit the class, you will likely see people at different levels, some beginners, intermediates, and advanced students, as the class is ongoing and all are welcome.
