Exploring Life Cycles (Exploring Life Cycles at Woodland Park Zoo)

New teacher workshop at Woodland Park Zoo! Have your students ever wondered what penguin nests look like? Or how young gorillas learn important skills through play? Join us for a day at Woodland Park Zoo exploring the life cycles of a variety of animals: insects and other arthropods, reptiles and amphibians, birds, and mammals. Animals in each of these groups have different body structures and behavioral adaptations that help them survive and thrive in their environments, whether it’s the desert coast of Chile, the lush rain forests of central Africa, or the frozen tundra of Arctic regions. Classroom-based activities and zoo tours will highlight how you can build on your students’ natural interest in animals to help them excel in science. Advanced registration is required. Most appropriate for teachers of grades 2-5. Clock hours (7) will be available. Application due date: Monday, November 9, 2009
