Description

The Issaquah School District is proud to present the Second Annual All-District Jazz Concert featuring performances by Liberty, Skyline, and Issaquah High School Jazz Bands. Jazz Band is just one of several musical performance opportunities offered to the students in the Issaquah School District high schools. In addition to rehearsing with the jazz band, these students are extremely active in other ensembles including jazz combos, symphonic bands, marching band, pep-band, orchestras, small chamber ensembles, and groups outside of their respective school programs. These students are also involved in several other clubs and athletic activities throughout the school year. This event is one of the few times all three jazz groups have the opportunity to perform together. The students are extremely excited about taking the stage at The Triple Door.

Phil Donley joined the staff at Liberty High School in 2004. Before moving to the Great Northwest and teaching in the Issaquah School District he was the director of instrumental music at Loyola Academy College Preparatory High School in Wilmette, IL (a suburb of Chicago). He attended VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, where he received both his Bachelors (’98) and Masters degree (’01).

David Pitt came to Skyline High School in 1998 after teaching Band and Choir in public schools in both Northern and Southern California since 1981. He did his undergraduate studies at California State University, Long Beach, completed his Master's Degree at Southern Oregon Universtiy, and was serving as the President of the Northern California Band Director's Association when he was invited to interview at Skyline.

Patrick Holen has been teaching at Issaquah High School since 2001. Prior to that, he taught two years in southeastern Indiana at Milan High School (known for the movie “Hoosiers”). He graduated from Indiana University in 1999 and is currently a Master’s Candidate at the American Band College through Southern Oregon University. He currently lives in Seattle with his wife Anna.
