Butoh: Dance for Healing and Transformation (Butoh: Dance for Healing and Transformation)

An energetic-spiritual journey to learn about oneself and the group. It is designed for those people interested in the transformation of energy through dance. It is based on Butoh concepts and teaching techniques of Mexican Butoh Master Diego Piñon along improvisation exercises that have evolved from Diana’s own dance and butoh practices. Butoh Ritual Mexicano combines concepts of Japanese Butoh, Mexican energetic traditions, ritual dance, theater and contemporary dance, and draw from techniques that: open the joints and pelvis to free energy blockages; circulate energy through strong physical exercises, which develop spatial awareness, focus and balance. Class goals: - Increase awareness of dance as a practice for healing and transformation - Building self-confidence - Stimulate the free flow of energy in the body - Develop consciousness, train the senses, perceptions and imagination - Develop focus, balance and the use of your center or core - Develop and maintain a safe and nourishing environment for personal exploration - Understanding performances as “offerings” of energy to the audience Important: This class is not about how well you dance, but how committed you are to learn, change and grow from the energy you produce when dancing and when experiencing the dance in others. Requirements 1. No previous Butoh dance training necessary 2. Open to dancers, actors, performing artist and people in general who are interested in the transformation of energy through dance 4. A high energy level, to be able to support strong physical exploration and touch personal limits is strongly encouraged 5. A clear focus and intention to create a personal movement
