Description
A one-day public symposium about the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (A-Y-P) will feature keynote speaker Dr. Robert Rydell, the premier World's Fair historian. Other speakers will examine the portrayal of indigenous cultures at the A-Y-P and other world's fairs of that time. Speakers include UW faculty and graduate students from art history, American Indian studies, and history departments, as well as contemporary artists who are featured in the exhibit A-Y-P: Indigenous Voices Reply. This symposium will take place at Kane Hall, room 110, and is open to both the campus and the public. Admission is free. This symposium is generously supported by the Simpson Center for the Humanities.
