More about Vision Quest Metaphysical Bookstore
Vision Quest Metaphysical Bookstore
Vision Quest began in 1986 as a small 900 square foot metaphysical bookstore in Canoga Park, CA. It was founded by psychic, Apryl Douglas and in 1987 she met her husband, astrologer, Rocky Berlier. Together they began an ambitious business venture in 1987 to open a second store in Simi Valley, CA.By 1989 they opened a third store in Woodland Hills where it operated as the official bookstore of the L.A. Health & Life Expo. In an effort to reduce the ever growing complexities of running 3 stores, in 1990 Rocky & Apryl consolidated all three stores into one large store (4,000 sq. ft.) in a prominent location in Canoga Park. The store was enormously successful and continued to grow over the next 4 years.
In January of 1994 the store was only 3 miles from the epicenter of the Northridge earthquake. There was great damage to the building as well as severe losses in books and merchandise. With incredible support of family and friends, they managed to bring the store back to it's former glory, however, now with a greater incentive to relocate the store to an earthquake-free location.
In June of 1995, Rocky & Apryl moved the store (and their entire household) to Phoenix, AZ. They reopened Vision Quest in the neighboring town of Scottsdale where it has continued to thrive. The store was recently moved (April 2001) from its original location at 2525 N. Scottsdale Rd. to a larger and more accommodating location a mere 1/2 block away at 2225 N. Scottsdale Rd. The new location has a large lecture hall (rentals available) which can be partitioned into 3 separate classrooms of 1,000 sq. ft. each. The new location also has a huge retail area as well as rental offices for therapists and professionals.
Vision Quest currently boasts a mailing list of over 11,000+ residents and is growing daily. We are grateful to an ever encouraging community for our continued success and growth.
