Description
Focus on 21st Century Teaching Skills
Francisco Hernandez, Vice Chancellor for Students at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and Cherie Hayes-Gigante, Project Manager for UH Manoa Online Learning Academy will discuss the online
learning program he directed in California and his new initiative here
in Hawaii. Suggestions will be made for beginning and managing an
online learning program, how online learning addresses the 21st century
skills our students need for their future, and how we as educators can
create engaging online courses and motivating online learning
communities.
Educational Technology: Past, Present, and Future
Educational Technology is the use of computing, media, and telecommunications technologies in the process of teaching and learning. We have experienced a digital revolution, resulting in students of an Internet generation. Acquiring familiarity and ability to use teaching technologies is important for educators. Tips on getting started will be presented.
Paul B. McKimmy, Director of the Technology & Distance Programs College of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa
Face, Role of Higher Education Changing
We must adapt to meet the changing needs of our student population. Students are asking us to do business differently. What are the alternative models of education? Issues of portability, articulation, and transitions will be presented. This is a wonderful opportunity for meaningful dialogue about our role as educators in the 21st century.
Christine Sorensen, Dean of the College of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa since August 2007.
