Originally training as a general nurse then pursuing a career in Mental Health. After returning from 18 month travelling the world in late 90's she struggled with the medical model of care in the West so spent 3 years at weekend studying Shiatsu, the Japanese holistic bodywork practice. Shiatsu therapists use finger and palm pressure to energetic pathways, called meridians to improve the flow of qi (life force). Shiatsu can calm an over-active sympathetic nervous system, which improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress. However over the past decade a number of contributing factors lead to a complete life change. She retrained and qualified as a joiner and set up her own part-time business whilst dealing with a number of major issues in her life. At the beginning of this year Jo felt the time was right to start building up her Shiatsu practice in Scarborough, plus sharing some of the amazing yet so simple Qi practices that could be of benefit for so many. Kagyu Samye Dzong Scarborough is a branch of the Rokpa Trust Charity, Charity number 1059293.
