Description
Woods Trail: Part of this trail is along the Middle Patuxent River on natural surface paths with several moderate hills. Warning: there is poison ivy along some sections of the trail. The remainder of the trail is relatively flat on paved streets and sidewalks through residential areas of Savage. Patuxent River walks qualify for the Native American Culture because the rivers were major pathways for north and western Indians to come to the Chesapeake Bay for trade. Part of the trail is marked with wooded AVA markers. **Historic Note: There is a National Historic Site - the Bollman Truss Bridge on the walk. Walk is also part of the "Historic Civil War Tour" of Howard County and there is a plaque by the bridge. Savage Cemetery on trail. RATED 2. Residential Trail: On sidewalks, paved paths and a small section on the wooded paved trail. RATED 1+. -- Fee for IVV credit or non-IVV credit is $3.00. Children 12 and under walk for free (IVV-Credit included) courtesy of Freestate Happy Wanderers.
