Event details: The Meaning of Things: Jacklyn St. Aubyn
Description
Jacklyn St. Aubyn, a professor of painting and drawing at NMSU in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is an immensely skilled painter who closely observes the subtle, often overlooked, nuances of nature. In her current work, St. Aubyn portrays botanical subject matter that she finds in her yard, neighborhood and community. She juxtaposes pieces of natural history illustrations and patterns in with these botanical subjects. The objects St. Aubyn chooses as her subject matter serve as links between her inner and outer worlds. Objects have a way of making the intangible moments and thoughts of my life tangible, she says. Broadly speaking, these objects symbolize beauty, order, complexity, and cycles of life and death.
Selected images by Jacklyn St. Aubyn are enclosed. Additional high resolution images and additional information are available from the gallery upon request.
