      Vicki Dello Joio and Merry Ross // Two Women, Two Stories: What's Wrong with a Mouse What's My Age Again?

      Two Women, Two Stories is a diverse evening, featuring solo performances by prominent actors from Living Arts Playback Theater, explores transformative life experiences through innovative, humorous, and dramatic story-telling. The first piece, by Vicki Dello Joio, is a dramatic story of transformative reconciliation. What's Wrong with a Mouse chronicles Vicki's journey as she works to heal a 20-year rift with her father, who had disowned her for being queer. As Vicki cares for her father during his final days, she travels back in time with humor and heart, using her expertise as a brilliant physical and character actor to tell stories of their relationship. Recent comments from audience members have included "riveting, I don't have words, I am so moved," "Your father came totally alive for meit was like he was in the room," "You have given me hope for healing what I thought was broken." The second piece, What's My Age Again? by Merry Ross, travels through the unknown terrain of peri-menopause introducing her grandmother, mother, and daughters through hilarious and poignant stories. With consummate skill and expertise, Merry walks the line between stand-up comedy and self-revelatory performance to explore this new life stage as she struggles to come to terms with the aging process. Comments for her performance included: "I can't remember when I've laughed so hard!" "As a woman approaching menopause, I felt like you were talking to me." "I wish you could have just kept goingI didn't want it to end." Bios: Vicki Dello Joio is a performer, director, teacher and speaker. She is the author of The Way of Joy and founder of Way of Joy Qigong. A founding member of the women' theater company, Common Threads, which toured in Europe in the mid-eighties, Vicki performed her previous one woman show, A Mime's Eye View at Theater Rhinoceros. She has been a performing member of Living Arts Playback Theater for over 15 years. Merry Ross is an MFT Drama Therapist, teacher, actor, and director. Her last one woman show, Body Language was performed at the Marsh in San Francisco in the 90s. A long-term performing member of Living Arts Playback Theatre ensemble, Merry has taught theater at Laney College where she produced, directed and performed in The Vagina Monologues. She is currently on the faculty of John F. Kennedy University and the Living Arts Counseling Center.
