Description
GUEST SPEAKER: Jeffery will do some lighting demonstrations that compare tungsten and strobe lights: Softboxes, umbrellas, barn doors and snoots. This is a good chance to see what lighting equipment is best for your purposes. Other speakers/demonstrations are planned too. BASIC DESCRIPTION OF THIS MEET UP: To provide an environment where professionals and serious amateurs interested in becoming pros can meet, exchange knowledge and network. Every meeting will include a demonstration and discussion of useful photo techniques at no cost to the members. Assignments will be given at the close of the meeting for members to work on and show at the following meeting. Members will be encouraged, but not required, to prepare their own presentations. Clearly, this will be a serious and fun educational group. The Meet Up group is the first step for me to launch the Pacific Institute of Photography, a small private academy for the study of professional photography. I make no attempts to conceal the fact that I'm looking for full time students to dedicate themselves to learning and mastering the craft. More specifically, students that will pay fees for my workshops so I can convert my career from full time photographer to full time mentor. I've been a shooting pro for nearly 30 years and I don't want all my experiences to fade away when I start backing away from shooting full time. The best way I know how to achieve my goal is to get people involved, networking and learning. A small number of members will want to study with me and the majority will just want to participate as no-fee members. That's cool with me. I'm giving free (educational) samples along with the other pros that participate. In time the word will spread and I'll get the students I need. All along the way, enthusiasts will get lots of mentoring just for showing up. It will be fun for all of us. Questions? Email me through this website. Jeffery Luhn
