Route now includes more of downtown Santa Barbara, including the Presidio of Santa Barbara, parks, and Santa Barbara City College. For those who still prefer a "beach walk," the previous trail that walks out and back along the Pacific Ocean-West Beach, Palm Chase Park, Stearns Wharf, and East Beach-is still available. Going up and down the hill to the Community College makes the primary route very difficult for wheelchairs. Those participants should consider the alternate beach route because of its safety feature.
