Oak Canyon Nature Center Walk/Hike at Postal code 92704, US

Let's try this again. I missed this last time - I want to post it again. Join us for an nice visit to one of our beatutiful nature parks herein Orange County. The Nature Center is a 58 acre natural park snuggled in the Anaheim Hills area. There is a stream year round that wanders through the park. There are several canyons; hiking/walking trails that wind around the oak woodland and coastal sage trees. One of the few remaining areas like this. Beginner: 2 mile hike is ideal for beginner or out of shape hikers. Starting on a self-guided trail, there are many native plants. Connecting to the Roadrunner Ridge which runs west to East along the north side of Oak Canyon. This trail has some uphill walking. Then we will meet the main road and walk beside the stream along a shaded paved road. We could see wildlife and many native trees. Crossing a bridge we reach the Stream Trail's dense oak area. Bird lovers will enjoy the various songs of many types of birds. We will stop at the John J. Collier Interpretive Center to visit the small museum featuring live native wildlife and natural history exhibits. Those who are more experienced hikers/walkers can continue on another 2 miles. Tranquility trail will take you up into a hilly and exposed sunny area. Wren way to Bluebird Lane and back to main road makes a circle back to the center. After the hike, we will go have a drink and appetizers at a local restaurant. Those who want to have an early dinner can do that also. Beginner hike/walk takes about 1 -1/2 hours with a beginners pace. It's another hour for the advanced hikers to complete the loop. Bring 1-2 liters of water, a snack if you would like, tennis or hiking shoes, sunscreen and of course your camera. Please be aware that this is an exploratory hike, not a professional hiking event. Know your limits, and stay with a buddy at all times. There can be risks hiking - tripping, falling, bee stings, poison oak exposure. Just be alert and aware as we hike/walk. Directions to the parking lot: Parking is free 91 Freeway East to Imperial, go south on Imperial Turn left on Nohl Ranch Rd. about 3/4 to a mile Turn left on Walnut Canyon and continue to the Nature Center lot. I have a dirty green Subaru sedan Let me know if you have questions. Nancy 714-402-0202
