Multiple quilting projects will be offered throughout the year, and you can choose kits from new Moda fabric collections or use fabrics from your stash - we'll have ideas for how to use charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, fat quarter towers, and more! And we have a special project for everyone - new for 2008 - 2009, we're doing a Moda Sampler called "Selvages"! Your first blocks are included Free with your membership registration, and if you come to class with your completed blocks each month, your next month blocks are FREE! The "Selvages" quilt is a classic, traditional style scrappy quilt that will use fabrics from many Moda collections. The quilt features 33 beautiful nine-inch blocks set on point. For eleven months, your project each month will be to make two pieced blocks (from the same pattern) and one Double Nine-Patch block with the kits you receive. For month twelve, you'll add some setting and corner triangles, as well as borders, to put your new masterpiece together! The finished size will be 76" x 89". Your block feature fabrics and patterns will be packaged in preprinted envelopes from Moda, and your welcome packet will include a layout of the finished quilt with two different color options. This way, you can plan your finished quilt throughout the year -- auditioning blocks in various places as you progress through the year and collecting other fabrics to use for your setting triangles and borders. And we'll be there to help you along the way! Your fabric kits each month will contain the Moda feature fabrics for the two pieced blocks and for one of the nine patch blocks. If you come to class with your blocks completed, your next kit will be free! If not, you can pay $6 and purchase your kit for that month. For the quilt, you will choose and purchase your own background fabric separately; you can choose to use the same background throughout the quilt or you may want to vary it each month and make your quilt even more scrappy! And there's more! New for 2008-2009, Barbara Brackman (noted quilt historian) will be a featured contributor and provide an article or story about fabric, patterns, and people to go along with each month's kit!
