Brief bio:

J. Brush is a writer, organizer, videographer, and computer consultant, with a long history of participation in cooperative communities. He has spent much of the last five years working with peace and social justice organizations to improve communications, strategic thinking, and coordination.

He is a co-founder of Tryon Life community farm (www.tryonfarm.org). Recently, he has been focusing on growing a “cross-pollinating” infrastructure to help decentralized linkages and collaboration between diverse communities; and bringing interpersonal and group dynamics skills into the heart of this growing movement.

Most recently, he has worked with the Green Bloc to document their direct actions linking global justice convergences with long-term urban permaculture and community gardening. He has also worked in South Africa, building relationships between US activist communities and SA poor peoples’ movements struggling for community empowerment and basic services.

He has also been supporting a variety of difference groups (labor groups, Transition Initiative, Neighborhood Assns., etc.) in organizing at community level to begin building trust to depend on each other rather than wall street as the economic crisis starts to bite.

He will also be speaking at Cal Poly. Contact HopeDance (369-0203) for more details.
